It took me a while to get into
this novel because I was having a hard time placing the narrators and the narrative interjections. It builds up, along with memories of what was lost in a car accident, a sense of purpose and of unfinished business. There are several innovative stylistic moves on the part of O'Nan, including great, self-aware narrative commentary, and a
Time's Arrow-like section that moves backward at the end of the book.
