Hard Core by Linda Williams

In this book Linda Williams moves beyond debates of whether pornography demeans women to examine what it does as a genre. I found it surprising how much is going on in these films. Williams tries to maintain neutrality (though she obviously is at least partially opposed to censorship--otherwise she wouldn't write a book on this subject at all) and achieves an academic and theoretical tone throughout the book.
