The Princess and Mr. Whiffle by Patrick Rothfuss

I re-read this book while waiting around at a recent signing on The Wise Man's Fear tour. I enjoyed the story and the illustrations again this time. Someone sitting behind me at the signing made the (very good) point that if the kitten can't get out, presumably the princess can't either--which makes Rothfuss's recent talk of doing a sequel even more intriguing.

The Alchemist by Paul Coehlo

I did not find this book particularly enjoyable. It might have been the translation, but I wasn't crazy about the style. Furthermore, I felt like the simple moral of the story was overdone and overwrought. Borges gets the same point across much more movingly in a short story. Also, I felt like the point of the story was a bit simple.
